The reason for the special election is that Jan Costello has accepted a position representing District 5 on the DeKalb County Planning Commission. As a result, she can no longer serve as president of the Greater Hidden Hills Community Development Corp., but she will continue to work as a member on various projects.

Grow a Greener Future
We have raised 20% of the funds needed to protect the 50 trees the community and Trees Atlanta planted last November on Hairston Road. We thank those who have supported the cause. We ask all readers to donate the cost of a few bags of mulch. Click on this link, please.
The funds will also allow the community to mulch the trees and shrubbery on the median at Redan and Hairston that were planted in 2017.

The beautiful stretch of young trees can be seen along the 1.5-mile stretch of S. Hairston Road from Mainstreet Park Drive to Martins Crossing Road near Antioch Episcopal Church.
The Greater Hidden Hills Community Development Corporation, a non-profit (501(c)3 that advocates for enhanced business standards, beautiful streetscapes, and protected green space, has committed to provide mulch for all 50 trees. GHHCDC is asking for help in raising $3000 to complete this important project. Your donation will defray the cost of materials and labor required to complete the project and will ensure the future health of these trees. Streetscapes matter and increase property values!

Slaughtering Continues
The State Court has not yet set a trial date for Rudolph Bradford who was denied County permission to slaughter animals in his backyard at 1676 Rice Road, Lithonia. This site is near Redan Elementary School. Rudolph Bradford slaughtered 111 animals in his backyard in August 2022, including 7 cattle, 52 goats, and 52 sheep. The Georgia Department of Agriculture records show that he has slaughtered 4,702 cows, pigs, goats, and sheep since the cease-and-desist order was issued March 19, 2019. Of course, he was slaughtering before that. The grand total since the State began keeping records is 6832.
The Solicitor General’s office promises to let us know when the trial will be.
Oct. 15 – Go Green!
DeKalb County invites you to GoGreen. This event is free and aspires to raise awareness and appreciation of sustainability with our communities. Various partners engaged in environmental/ conservation work will be in attendance to share an overview of their organization and programs.
