Congratulations to Two Dedicated Volunteers
Erica Weaver and Gwendolyn Stegall received the Georgia Volunteer of the Year Award given by Georgia Recreation and Park Association on Nov. 8 in Athens, Ga. Only ten awards were given in the state.
Erica led the effort to restore Sugar Creek Golf and Tennis Center, beginning in 2017. She helped convince DeKalb County to invest $3 million and restore the tennis courts and golf course. Now 16 tennis teams and various high school teams practice and compete on the courts, and the golf course is thriving. Thank you, Erica! Click here to see the recognition video.
Gwendolyn was recognized for her your hard work and dedication to Hairston Park. DeKalb Parks Director Chuck Ellis thanked her for her “support to beautifying green space with a garden and playground allows us to continue fulfilling our mission in serving our DeKalb communities.” Click here to see the recognition video.
