Aug. 6, 2024 –Give Feedback on the Redan Road Corridor Improvements

5 – 7 p.m.
Hairston Crossing Library

4911 Redan Road, Stone Mountain

DeKalb County is identifying opportunities to transform the Redan Road corridor from a two-lane street to one that accommodates walking, biking, transit, cars and trucks with improved traffic operations and safety, which supports existing users, economic development, and the planned I-285 Express Lane access. The study includes Redan Road from Kensington Road/Holcombe Road to South Hairston Road. On Tuesday, Aug. 6, hear the recommendations and provide feedback.

Many people attended the March 20 public meeting or provided input online. The comments, survey results, and background information are available at this link.

Aug. 15, 6 p.m. Virtual Presentation on the Trail & Greenway Master Plan

Learn about the vision for the future of the County’s trail network. Register for the VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE on August 15th at 6:00pm! You can register, review the draft, and leave comments by clicking here.

(from Parks & Rec) “DeKalb County is home to a network of over 59 miles of greenways, trails, and paved paths. These trails not only connect communities, but they also provide recreational opportunities and active transportation options for the County’s residents and visitors. DeKalb’s existing trail master plan was created over 20 years ago, and as the County continues to develop and grow, an updated comprehensive master plan is necessary.”

The proposed gas station-convenience store at 6061 Redan Road (corner of Redan and Young) has been withdrawn without prejudice. It could come up again. We’ll have to be vigilant. The massive opposition at the Community Council meeting in June dissuaded the applicant.
