You are Invited to Meet with Friends Groups and Park Pride
On Sept. 28, 6 p.m., Park Pride is coming to our part of the county. You are invited to attend the Friends of the Park Orientation: Connect, Learn & Grow.
We will have the opportunity to connect with other park stewards, meet Park Pride staff, and learn about programs and resources available to support our work.
September 28, 6:30-8:00 pm, East Central DeKalb Community & Senior Center (4885 Elam Rd, Stone Mountain, GA 30083). Ample parking is available in the parking lot. Click here for details and registration.
We hope you can attend. Park Pride has given grants to Hairston, Biffle and Wade Walker parks, all close to East Central. It would be wonderful to make a good impression by having lots of our friends there.
Zoning: New Apartment/Townhome Project Proposed, Expansion Sought for Redan Church
There are two developments in the area that require approval. Both are inviting the community to a meeting to learn about the projects and to ask questions. Following the meetings, the projects will go through the Planning cycle: Community Council on Oct. 12 via Zoom, Planning Commission Nov. 5 via Zoom, and the Board of Commissioners in-person Nov. 19. The links will be posted on the GHHCDC website by Oct. 10.
Development #1. Three apartment buildings (total of 96 units) and 20 townhomes at 5148 Covington Highway, between Bethune Middle School and Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnessesl. (see the link for a rendering). To do this development, they need a rezoning from R-85 to MU1. Meeting details:

Fall Fun in Hidden Hills
On October 24, Hidden Hills is having two events: Fall Neighbor Day and Movie in the Park. Fall Neighbor Day begins at 9 am in Biffle Park with spruce-up activities in the park and the neighborhood. Please meet at the gazebo and bring your gloves.
Movie in the Park begins just before sunset. Bring your blanket or chairs to sit on, and any snacks you like. We’ll have popcorn! The movie will be announced later.
